DeMuth Agrees to Plea Bargain

DeMuth was arrested and charged in November 2009 after refusing to cooperate with a grand jury investigating the Iowa break-in. Tags: animal research animal enterprise terrorism act FBI. (The Quad-City Times reports that DeMuth admitted to releasing ferrets and causing damage to computers and records in a 2006 break-in.)

A few dead birds were collected by authorities and sent to a laboratory for investigation. It subsequently spread to Budapest/ Hungary (2005, 2006), Zürich/ Switzerland (2006), and north-east Italy (2008/2009). The first detection outside Africa occurred in Vienna/Austria between 2001 and 2006.
