a post questioning turtles of all things

Hey, so I have a pond on my property and there are TONS of little turtles and one big turtle living there; however the pond has been drying up and to avoid them also drying up to death I wanted to create a small turtle sanctuary on my property near the edge of the pond, and I had a few questions

1. in what ways could I attract the turtles to going to the sanctuary? They're jumpy, and I don't want to move them all there one by one it would take weeks.

2. what things are fundamentally necessary in the life of s turtle-taken actions?

3)What plants could I grow in the sanctuary to provide a natural re-generating crops

4) I'm about 70% sure rhe big turtle is a snapping turtle since they're the only turtles that big I've seen in the area. This guy has been around for years on my property last time I saw him was 5.6 years ago and honestly I thought he died. It looks like he was almost entirely covered with mud, and I thought he was a rock for multiple minutes before he poked his head out then swam off. Is the shell being covered with mud ok or could it detriment his life?

5) do snapping turtles have different requirements than the smaller turtles?

Thanks! I'd love to hear any suggestions on what I could do for these nice turtles and if anyone has ideas on how to design this turtle wonderland that'd be great!
