Thought experiment
If you put some animals (both wild and domestic) on an island and left them there to roam free and we come back after a few years who would survive. In my opinion dogs would be the first to go. Although I love dogs they're too dependent on humans, it's true that stray/feral dogs can form packs and survive in the wild a regular dog like a golden retriever would get eaten by a lion instantly. Cats would be the next. They are much more independent and still behave similarly to wild cats they are still pets and rely on humans to survive. From the ones that have a good chance to survive. Would suprisngly rodents and small animals. They are quite fast and can hide in places predators can't reach like Holes, pieces of debris etc. Horses have a good chance. The main strategy for horses is organisation. Horses live in groups. So they can look out for each other. Not to mention their speed. The ones who would last until the very end would be lions , tigers bears, eagles and wolves. They have speed, size, power everything. What do you think?
Interesting. I would think horses and dogs would go first. Cats and rodents and rabbits would probably last the longest, not exactly individually but over all. Rabbits and rodents “breed like rabbits”, cats don’t feck about either…
I think they would conspire to kill any human that sets foot on the island.
Would really depend on environment, domestic animals might strive in certain environments,
Environment really is the key maybe certain species might form inter species packs that enabled them to survive better, possibilities are endless
I would say Pigeons have a good chance of survival as they can survive in both urban and wild areas as they're very adaptable the biggest hurdle for them would be escaping from Raptors
Plus they can fly at like 80/90mph. They're fast.
