I want to trap a mouse that lives in my house and keep it as a pet. Otherwise it takes its chances out in the field. What do you all think?

You're a kind soul, but I personally think it's best to let nature be nature. If you don't want to share your house with the mouse, it's best out in the wild living how it was meant to, even if that means meeting its end. Better a short life lived outside than a long life lived encaged!

Fleas 😬 Mice can have fleas and I don't think you or your dog want those either. Also, I think the mouse might get depressed and die slowly.

I hate killing things that just happen to find themselves in my house too. I would catch and release as far from housing as possible. I understand the mouse might die, but more likely of a more natural mouse death. Maybe an owl can feed its chicks.

Wish people would just not use glue traps for them :/ So thanks for thinking of their feelings. We can't end all suffering but we can try not to add a bunch to it.

House mice live in houses, field mice live outside. Remove the environment and the organism dies. Just kill them and save them the torture.

So we lived in this rental house for about two years and the the people who owned the house were really big dooms day hoarders. we didn’t realize this when we moved in and the mice were already there although we didn’t see any. fast-forward about two months and I see a little fat mouse running from underneath our sofa. He was so cute and I naïvely named him sofa mouse. He was the only one I saw for quite a while, and I didn’t have the heart to put him out in the cold. Fast forward two more months and my husband pulled out the sofa bed where sofa mouse lived and about 25 baby mice jump out and scattering about the house!!! they ate the inside of the couch! It was a very nice couch, too. So, odds are you probably have more than just the one mouse. You’re gonna have to decide if you want to live with mice or not.

Wild mice are almost impossible to keep as pet - they die of stress. Im not saying instant heart attack, but they grow weak and don't eat or drink plenty, really sad process. If it's not bothering you you should leave it (didnt read the text) If it is live trap it and Set it out with some variety of food nearby, they can be picky depending on what their diet was consistent off.
