You did the right thing for sure... Been there too 👍

Personally I would have tried to bring it to a rehab center (not necessarily to try and save it, but also because the vets there will have all the equipment necessary to suppress the animal the best way possible), but killing it was probably the second best choice. For the future tho, there are way better methods to kill an animal than drowning it, because drowning is definitely not just like passing out.
