I would like to be closer to animals

So for a long time now I've been feeling unwell, never once had I found a healthy coping mechanism but I think spending more times with animals could help, I've always loved them, my cat has supported me emotionally more than anyone just by her presence. I feel safe with animals. Problem is, I have no qualifications whatsoever to have a job with animals, I am 18, I would like to volunteer in animal shelters but I do not have that much time and energy at the moment, plus I can't find any that are close to where I am. Pet sitting might be an option, I need to think about it more. I can also go to parks or zoo's, but it wouldn't be the same : there are people, it costs money, I can't really help the animals, etc... And Ive thought about getting another cat, preferably a baby but I need to discuss that with my parents and think about it myself. Any advice?

Consider fostering?

You can do a world of good without becoming a hoarder. (Not that two cats is hoarding. But fostering is a more sustainable kindness.)

I've thought about that too, the thing is my cat is not a very social cat so I don't know if having some cats come here for a period of time would make her feel at ease (as much as I would love too) I'm scared it stress the other cat more than anything.. I tell myself that if I just adopt one she will have loads of time to get familiar and stuff, but U don't know if fostering would be good of whichever cat...

Volunteering at an animal shelter is the absolute perfect solution. I’m sure you have plenty of time and energy, if you want to create the time and energy.

If you don’t want to, then you won’t find a solution. Everything worth doing takes a bit of effort. Shelters and rescues are desperate for help.

Yeah, I would really be up to do that, turns out I might have some time, so as long as I have that, it's fine. I'll have to look more into it. There are still a phew issues I need to sort out before applying but it could definitely be a thing!
