On my first day in Florida for the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival I landed at Orlando International Airport at about 9 AM, deplaned, waited for my luggage, got my rental car, and drove west. I was bummed out but still hopeful that one of my three target species would show itself. Wait, west? I never got to St. Petersburg.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay welcomed two endangered baby red-ruffed lemurs on April 21. Lemurs are a species of primate, and reach sexual maturity between 2 and 3 years old. All species of lemurs are native to the island of Madagascar. Red-ruffed lemurs are one of nearly about 50 lemur species. 17 of a pound, at birth.
