The indoor workshop started with a Covid self-testing (where everyone was negative), followed by lectures on the Swarovski company, its ethos and products. And, expectedly, the advice was: you should significantly lower your prices and move production to Asia. The next day we had an outdoor workshop and a chance to test the toys.

Having mobility issues, I still remember birding from a van along a rather productive dirt road in Costa Rica ( Broad-billed Motmot , Lineated Woodpecker , Cocoa Woodcreeper , etc.), He was busy with a long phone call and opted to ignore me, showing me in a sign language that he could not understand English.

Most of this trip was in remote areas well out of phone range and you need to be entirely self-sufficient. It does not take a lot of water to sustain birdlife in these remote areas and the pools that remained were small, but productive for a variety of birdlife. Boab tree beside water course.
