In June, storms hit Minneapolis very hard. I heard Hairy Woodpeckers , at first I thought an adult, but then also young. On my way, I managed to flag down a Minneapolis Park and Recreation truck. I played the hairy woodpecker call on my phone, a chick responded and creeped up towards the entrance. What could I do?

Crow Roosts

We have a large crow roost in downtown Minneapolis it takes forever for them to finally settle into sleep. Yes, these are common birds, yes they sometimes eat eggs and baby birds (even woodpeckers do that) but it’s unbelievable to see that much bird mass in one spot. Then there was a Syrian Woodpecker , practically a species of almond orchards and open savannas, as well as the ubiquitous Common Kestrel , Common Magpies and Hooded Crows. I mean, Belgrade is as far north as Seattle, Portland or Minneapolis-St. It’s too hot for that. Or is it someone’s practical Wiki-joke?
