Animal Research Grants a Waste of Taxpayer Money
Each year, millions of cats, dogs, non-human primates and other animals suffer and die in research laboratories. World Week for Animals in Laboratories (April 17-24) exposes their plight and the broken federal research funding system that perpetuates outdated animal experiments at the expense of modern and more humane technologies.

On Dolphins as a Gateway to Animal Rights
did tweet about " Scientists Say Dolphins Should Be Treated As 'Non-human Persons' " yesterday, as I think this is a Gray Matter for a lot of people and might be interesting to explore. Dolphins are so smart that scientists think they should be treated as "non-human persons" and as such it is "morally unacceptable" to use or kill them.

Robert Young on Killing Animals
Does my proposal as to what makes killing another human being generally a major moral wrong in any way help us with deciding what, if anything, is wrong with killing non-human animals and foetuses? believe it does help. This is not to say that other instrumentalist considerations (e.g.

Situation Critical for Zimbabwe Wildlife
War and chaos is bad for everyone, human and non-human. In Zimbabwe, activists claim impoverished Zimbabweans are killing elephants and eating them. Out-of-control poaching is apparently wiping out all sort of wildlife, including hippos.

Captive Primate Safety Act Passes House
Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Mark Kirk (R-IL) for sponsoring the measure that will prohibit the trade in non human primates. The Captive Primate Safety Act was passed by the US House by a vote of 323 to 95. Mark Markarian, as usual, has an excellent roundup. Special shout out to Rep.

Hero Dog Tries To Help Wounded Dog
It is a great example of how loving and selfless non-human animals can be. The whole idea that so many people hold that says somehow humans have a monopoly on emotions kind of gets tossed out the window when you see something like this. This video just melts my heart. We could all learn a little something from this Hero Dog!

ALF Activists Glue Locks of U Cal Primate Researcher
We will increase our level of tactics as long as non-human primates and other animals are tortured to death at the hands of those driven by profit and as long as the University of California shows a complete disregard for the suffering of the non-human prisoners. Now this war has two sides

Debate Over Injured Dog Video
think that such haters can't bear a non-human being heroic. It begs the question of the uniqueness of humanity and, of course, themselves. Not other humans in general, but themselves. I've only been able to watch this video, and read the comments, once. It's too much for me. The video is in Spanish.

Henry S. Salt (1851-1939) on Moral Blindness
The only real cure for the evil is the growing sense that the lower animals are closely akin to us, and have Rights. Henry S. Salt , The Logic of Vegetarianism: Essays and Dialogues [London: The Ideal Publishing Union, 1899], 109-10 [italics in original

Activists in Mexico Bomb Max Mara Store
raised in the infernal fur farms, which are nothing more than concentration camps, where non-human animals are subjugated and forced to live a life of torture and imprisonment waiting for their murder, sick and crazed due to the denial of their wild natures. ALF activists in Polanco Mexico bombed a Max Mara clothing shop.

ALF Activists Burn Company That Sells Animals for Research
From the site: In the early morning hours of May 18th, four incendiary devices were planted at Scientific Resources International, a supplier of non-humyn primates for use in vivisection labs all over northern Nevada. Here is one little blurb I found out about them from the University of Wisconsin: Scientific Resources International, Ltd.

Getting Emotional
What immediately hit me after getting so emotional about this is how nature is kind in comparison to the horrible cruelties humans impose on non-human animals, especially “food animals. I mean, how can a human being be so incredibly heartless? Sometimes being an animal rights advocate is emotionally exhausting.
