The interesting thing is that it was not a first time, when David saved poor animals out of a fire: ten years before he has already taken a wounded dog after the fire to the North Shore Animal League, where he was cured. Here Scarlett experienced the full recovery and had a good lifetime of 10 years.

The sharp strings are a menace to passing birds – especially kites and other raptors – who cannot see them and sometimes suffer grievous, if not fatal, wounds. When Nadeem and Mohammed first began in 2003, few veterinarians would suture the wounds of birds, saying they were too small.

They pointed out the puncture wounds, likely infected with bacteria that could quickly kill. Statistics come to life in the suffering of one dove or one mockingbird, the one needlessly stricken and dying for the sake of a personal choice. They simply helped me with my bird.
