That’s one reason, probably the biggest reason, why we don’t have centennials for animals that become extinct in the wild. Turns out, from what I could find, not particularly ceremonious. Well, it would have been in 1944… or 1952 or somewhere in between. In 1952, at least in the US, no one wanted to be a Debbie Downer.
