I come from a large family: five sisters, two brothers and almost everyone has kids. Most of my family lives in Indiana, but thanks to social media we can easily keep in touch. After speaking with someone else who has taken in strays and the vet, they have informed me they may just be gassy adjusting to the food we are feeding them. I am quite nervous to introduce them for a few reasons, one being the kitten in the opposite sex and isn’t fixed yet. I am worried this kitten may spray.

Half a decade ago, in a little mountain town about 60 miles northeast of San Diego, a feral kitten dragged his front left leg uselessly. The dog-loving owners of the property in Julian where he sought refuge rushed him to the local veterinarian, who informed them that if his leg was amputated, he could live as an indoor cat.

Puppies and kittens often up in shelters as well, but it is important to note that your animals, especially puppies, require a lot of work and training and can be quite destructive (peeing on the carpet or chewing shoes).

The boys knew what Owls looked like, they saw Screech Owls (and Barred and Great Horned Owls) at a local wildlife park, and we photographed Burrowing Owl families every year at Brian Piccolo Park. Flying from kitten to hen to dog to cow to car to boat to steam shovel, the baby bird asks the timeless question, “Are you my mother?”
