Highlights from Birding Costa Rica, 2019

Ruffs from Israel, the one in Costa Rica kind of looked like the top bird. Luck always plays a role for seeing these monster goshawks but so does looking for them in the right places. These experiences, guiding, and other aspects of birding were gifts, I look forward to 2020. Bird counts. Quetzals, hummingbirds, and tanagers.

Big Day Birding in Costa Rica- Strategies and Constraints

Looking for terns, White-eyed Gulls , and other seabirds from North Beach, Eilat, Israel during Champions of the Flyway. That said, last fall, all of the right parts fell into place for Ernesto Carman and Jairo Jimenez on October 15th when they identified 351 species in Costa Rica in less than 24 hours !

Hula Valley Israel Is A Migratory Hot Spot

And though there are plenty of places in the United States to enjoy migration (heck even right here in my state of Minnesota) I’ve been fortunate enough to take in migration in other areas. The bottom line is that migration can be enjoyed in so many places on this planet and Israel should be on your list to visit at some point.
