A slim majority of U.S. Supreme Court justices upheld the California ballot initiative Proposition 12 as constitutional, and that the state could establish its own rules on meat sold in the state, even if that means that products produced outside of the state must comply with the law. Full implementation begins at the beginning of next year.

This year, migration seems to have ended a bit earlier than in most previous years – not very surprising given that this was the hottest Shanghai May in the last 100 years, and at least some birds (such as American Robins – note that these are the fake robins of the US, they probably also claim that their name was stolen from them by the liberal press) follow isotherms on their migration ( source ).

I found a nest a couple days ago in a cornhole game that hangs on the outside wall and has not been touched in months. There was a mother (not visible enough to know what type of bird) and several babies that looked to be within a couple days old. I just went back to check on them for the first time in almost 2 days and I could not see any babies, but the mother was still there.

So there’s this bird that made a nest and I got too close (I didn’t touch or move anything I was just trying to see if it was there) and the bird came out, saw me, and flew away. I hope I didn’t scare the bird off or maybe harm it. I didn’t do anything I just got away from the nest as fast as possible but I don’t know if it will return. There are eggs so I hope it returns I’m just not too familiar with how it works.

Long story short, I know someone interning at a wildlife sanctuary. For privacy I won’t say which one. The conditions at the internship are honestly terrible and it has me digging into the morality of this place. Basically the locals started feeding dangerous wildlife causing them to come dependent on the food. The sanctuary now claims because of this dependency, they need to be fed by humans because stopping would cause the wildlife to go into local towns.

I can’t have a dog or cat seeing as my mom won’t let me due to both of us having allergies. I’d be fine living with the sniffles but she isn’t. I always make sure to heavily research before owning a pet, and have had many reptiles and other animals before. Please let me know, I think an animal companion is the only thing to save me at this point.

This is the second time in a row. Last night I had a deep cut in my left toe, but I wasn't really awake to know what was happening. This time, I noticed the sudden pain in my pinkie, I immediately jerked my hand away. Then there's this sound of a small animal escaping. I definitely know that was a rat, my house is infested by it.

I saw it just sitting in my gravel last night, and if you got close she would flap her wings but wouldn't really fly. She went into the corner of my fence and stayed. I figured she was just resting so I left. Come back this morning, I found her there still. Looking very cold. I pet her a little and could see that it looks like she wont use one of her legs so i'm assuming it's broken.

I’m teaching summer school and last week hordes of earthworms have been coming to the concrete just to dry up and die. First two pics are the center and left walkways, third picture is the right walkway and there are hardly any worms on that side. First week of summer school rained everyday but the past two weeks have been dry and 90s. Any explanation for this behavior?

Over the long weekend I was in Bruce Peninsula national park (Southern Ontario, Canada) with my partner. There are black bears in the back country but sightings are apparently really rare, which is good, because I'm quite afraid of bears. I take the proper precautions to make sure I don't disturb them. We were five minutes into our hike back when I heard a loud, thundering running noise from the brush next to us.

Hello community! Reaching out, as I have a question regarding a pigeon that built her home months ago on my balcony. So, about five days ago, she let her little newborn out of the egg and fed it pretty often. Today tho, she flew away in the morning, came back a few times to look from the distance, but never fed her and fly away again. This happened 2-3 times.

Personally I think it’s millipedes, since they have been here since the Cambrian period. Or also know as “beginning of life on earth” even though there is a pre-Cambrian period. But correct me if I’m wrong that millipedes are the oldest animal on the planet or is it turtles?

Why is it that bulls are born have large horns compared to cows. Which part of the passing of genetics causes the bulls body to produce a larger sized horn? Same with deer, male deer have bigger sized horns compared to female.

This has been going on for a while. When it originally happened we took her to the vet. They gave us antibiotics and a steroid. They essentially said refill and have her take the antibiotic until it gets better. 4 months in it was the same. Within the last 2 weeks she has been scratching and licking like crazy. We have an inflatable tube around her neck.

A few days ago,I was just minding my own business until a pigeon came at my house in the mind blogging 43° C temperature. It caught my attention so I provided it with water and some rice. It was just standing there, staring into the abyss. I did some research and found that it was a yellow footed green pigeon from Maharashtra, India. It was either too young or too old because of the way it behaved.

I am starting my training tomorrow to work as a medical/kennel assistant volunteer at the dog wing of my local animal shelter. I was so excited but now I’m extremely nervous. I am worried about interacting with a high energy dog that wants to run out of his kennel the minute he gets a chance lol. I’m also not sure what to expect. I should be sleeping but it’s keeping me up.
