Another Endemic Amazona

10,000 Birds

The islands of the Caribbean are home to 176 species of endemic birds unevenly distributed across the region. Some islands host one or two species, others more than twenty. Many of these species are declining in number, having to share their limited geographical range with an expanding human population without a doubt impedes their ability to proliferate as needed.

Need help with dead birds and potentially/maybe toxic water

Reddit Animals

Hi, I live in a suburban area that is a good chunk woods and wildlife, however we have a lot of construction for new developments happening. Recently I have noticed that water that runs in the runoff trenches in our area has a cloudy red color now, not clear. I have also now noticed over the course of the past 3 weeks, at least 10 dead birds on the side of the road where the trenches are.

Question About Cat Adoption

Reddit Animals

Hello! I am meeting a darling 2 year old cat to possibly adopt from a rescue tomorrow. The agency says she is fine with children, but needs to be the only animal in the home. What does this mean about the cat? Has anyone had any luck adopting a cat vs a kitten? Thanks!

What is up with this bird?

Reddit Animals

So I live in Australia ( vic) and I get a lot of Australian king parrots but I noticed something odd about one of them on my balcony today. The males have the bright red heads ( photo 5 and 6) and females have greens heads ( photo 7 and 8) but this one had spots of red on its forehead and red on its chest despite having mostly female colouring that I have never seen before ( photo 1-4).
