“Rabeneltern” – raven parents Raven parents, raven mothers, raven fathers – shame on you all, for you are neglecting your children. The eagle-owls of the genus Bubo are all called “Uhu“. I’d like to point out though that “owly“ is a poor translation.

After we got back to the cars everyone pulled chairs out and sat down for a cup of tea (I had neglected to bring some but was not to go without thanks to the hospitality of these fine people). A passing raptor was, depending on who you asked, certainly or probably a Brown Goshawk.

Birdmania at the Cano Negro Bird Count, Costa Rica

I spent two full days where the birding was near constant, and, just to keep the binoculars from being neglected, topped it off with another half day of birding on our drive back from Cano Negro, Costa Rica. With that tragic news went any hopes of finding something like a Crested Eagle or Great Jacamar but it would still be exciting to visit.
