One Common Raven is disappearing towards its nest among the branches of the poplar plantation, only to reappear a few minutes later to give a good chase – aerial acrobatics included – to its first neighbour, the White-tailed Eagle which breeds in the vicinity. Whenever I come here, I am focused on birds, but I have had some good mammal sighting as well: a roe deer swimming across a pond (only its head and antlers visible), a pair of otters playing in the water, a curious (young?) The only wildcat I found was illegally killed by hunters during closed season. Beljarica lies less than 2 km/1.2

If you’ve ever seen a Mink at a distance (a live mink, not a coat) you know that they are cute frolicking fun loving land otters. Some of the lakes they breed on have been stocked with salmon and trout. And, the Mink are capable of wiping out large portions of a breeding colony in a short period.
