The Pittas of Sepilok

Well – I only saw two species, the most common ones at Sepilok, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. The British then posthumously named a fort after him (Ussher Fort in Ghana) – not a great consolidation when you are already dead, but then, not many things are. Not that they need many words anyway. As it does not look shabby at all.

Picathartes – Africa’s strangest birds

They diverged at approximately the same time as the rockjumpers (two quite unique bird species endemic to Southern Africa and now in their own family), and as a result for a while were even placed in the same family.
