Different from many other parasitic cuckoos, the chick typically does not kill all its nest mates, though one or two of them may die from starvation. Of course, what is shown here (and in the video ) is a female – kind of typical for this blog. The Asian Koel is a parasitic cuckoo that is not very common in Shanghai.
