I enjoy these books tremendously, and I know other birders, some blogging here, who gobble them up. On the other hand, Phoebe Snetsinger’s memoir, Birding on Borrowed Time , becomes tedious because of her lack of emotional disclosure. It’s tough birding the rainforest on your own. The Jewel Hunter can be frustrating in this respect.
