Jumping out of my “Beat” today

10,000 Birds

Let me start off with being quite clear, there are no grizzly Bears on the Baja! All of which, was for one a one day shoot with the famed bears, as they dined on the fall salmon run. I had prepared a target list of birds that I had hoped to photograph, which, in looking back now was really quite ambitious.

10,000 Birds

This is Jason’s first contribution to 10,000 Birds: Birders were rightly alarmed by the armed occupation of the Malheur NWR in Oregon. One of the nation’s premier birding locations had been overrun by an armed militia and the occupation unexpectedly endured for weeks. Individually, many NWRs protect crucial bird habitat.

Wrapping up a very good 2016

10,000 Birds

The icing on the cake has been getting to join this exceptional group of writers, and avian enthusiasts here on 10,000 Birds. In an effort to look back on the year, I have added, and deleted, written and scratched off, a list of birds that would represent my “Best Ten Birds” of 2016.
