The indoor workshop started with a Covid self-testing (where everyone was negative), followed by lectures on the Swarovski company, its ethos and products. I am still trying to sort out my impressions and memories. And, expectedly, the advice was: you should significantly lower your prices and move production to Asia.

As always, we held our sit high atop Battery Harris at Fort Tilden on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens. It’s lonely in the dark with no birds to keep you company. As regular readers of 10,000 Birds know, the Big Sit is my favorite birding event of the year, narrowly edging out the Christmas Bird Count. Hope to see you out there!

BOCA to Stop Using Eggs by End of 2009

On March 19, 2009 a company representative emailed Compassion Over Killing: "…I am pleased to let you know the BOCA brand will be eliminating eggs in all of its products by the end of this year. By removing eggs from their ingredient list, BOCA is withdrawing financial support for factory farms that use battery-cages.

Packing for a birding trip

I should get myself a new one, and I am eyeing the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark series (I hope that company will survive this period, otherwise we would be stuck with huge Nikon or oversized Canon, without much difference between them). Don’t forget all the cables, chargers, backup batteries and international electrical adapters!
