Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan

The park is the largest botanic garden in Australia and access is free. We also had Eastern Whipbirds hopping along the edge of the road tossing the leaf litter about in search of food. This butterfly is called a Monarch Butterfly in North America and it came to Australia in about 1871. Satin Bowerbird -female.

Willie Creek

The first creek to the north is Willie Creek and we often visit it on the south side when we monitor the breeding pairs of Pied Oystercatchers. Beach Stone-curlews Although the majority of shorebirds have ventured north to breed in the northern hemisphere we do still have birds here. There were some rather nice specimens.
