These gorillas live in groups of two to twenty and are extremely gregarious animals. The hilly area between Nigeria and Cameroon is home to these gorillas. A dominant male serves as the group leader. There are 6-7 females, along with their offspring, in addition to the dominant leader.

I had seen the Red-headed Picathartes in Cameroon on several occasions, and was on my way to a White-necked colony in Ivory Coast in 2002 when a coup broke out and we had to reluctantly turn back, so finally seeing this bird was a dream come true for me, and what a show they gave us!
