I chalked up 132 species in a pretty relaxed eight days, during which birds shared the agenda with culture. During migration (mostly in March and November), several thousand birds’ strong flocks of Common Cranes land here, while during autumn and winter there are several Long-eared Owl roosts. eBird bar chart. #2 2 Baranda fish farm.

Nationwide, wildlife watchers now outspend hunters 6 to 1. Giving a few hundred hunters something else to shoot, in my opinion, cannot be worth the blowback from tens of thousands of people who are willing to travel and spend just to watch the birds fly over. Isn’t that neat?
