When adopting a rescue there are added considerations on selecting the right dog for your lifestyle. Even if you don’t own other animals it’s a good idea to take advantage of this process.

If you’re on Aimee’s blog, odds are you’re either already an animal lover or en route to becoming one, so it probably should not come as any surprise that I, myself, am also slightly obsessed with our four legged friends. It was the first time I really wouldn’t see my pups on a regular basis or even be able to adopt one (or a few) of my own.

Better Buddies has several social impact programs in the works and currently donates a 10% of profit to the Best Friends Animal Society, who works on creating a world with “No more homeless pets.”

His large pouty eyes, silky fur-coat, and silly little paws on which he fumbled all over the hay-covered kennel, lured me in like a dog to a bone. After talking to the owner of the shelter however, I learned there was more to adopting little Chester, or any pet for that matter, than my love at first bark. Protect your pooch.

And I received confirmation of something I've known since 2004, when we adopted retired racing greyhound, Violet Rays: That there's sort of a critical period for dog-behavior acquisition, and if it's missed, the dog isn't likely to mature into the type of loving being whose behavior we've come to associate with "pet" dogs.

When they opened the door I expected to see a concerned owner relieved to see his pet. He’s currently residing with a loving foster family but the good news is he has just been adopted to a family in Canada!!
