I am not entirely sure whether most birders outside Germany know or realize that Germany still has a decent population of one of Europe’s most attractive and desired bird species: the Great Bustard Otis tarda. All other harrier species may also be around, including Pallid Harriers which are recorded each year as (semi-)vagrants.

Basically, this species is so dimwitted, it doesn’t know how to survive. Because, Pink Pigeons are not capable of doing the tasks required to create and bring up children of the species. Don’t these birds care about propagating their species? What happened to Thelma and Louise? I know, that’s harsh.

The birds were right next to an old abandoned farm house, and seemed quite happy to have their photo taken, up to a point, but then like the wind, they were gone, out thru the flat desert areas of New Mexico! American Kestrels, Cooper Hawks , and Northern Harriers also found the hunting here to their liking. US species – 234.

The book is divided into three parts: “Introduction,” “Avifaunal Overview,” and “Species Accounts.” Patrol and enforce wildlife-damaging violations, including the taking of endangered native plants, capturing turtles, riding ATV’s on pedestrian trails, and abandoning fishhooks. It’s a very mixed chapter.

The next day we tried mist netting the cave entrance, and the day after I abandoned the project entirely. This species was a new species and genus for me, and a particularly attractive one that was a pleasure to watch as we wandered down the slippery walkway to the cave entrance. This species is still uncommon in the Balkans and despite the recent spread, Kalamas is the most reliable site for it in Greece (and this made my only second ever observation of them in Europe). But, passing numerous Red-backed Shrikes , Western Yellow Wagtails and a herd of sheep among tussocks of long grasses, I remember those egrets.

… The ordinance would allow Minneapolis residents to establish cat “colonies” where abandoned and wild cats can be fed but also vaccinated, neutered and identified in an effort to humanely cut their population and control disease. The ordinance requires caretakers to “educate” people in their neighborhoods.

The adults of most species will still care for the chicks no matter how much you touch them. When that isn’t possible, many raptor rehabbers keep tabs on nests and will place an abandon chick in a foster nest. If the nest was in a bird house, open the house and check the damage. Do not worry about touching the baby birds.
