The International Fund for Animal Welfare ( IFAW ), is a non-profit organization working to save animals in crisis worldwide, to help protect our oceans’ whale population. The number of whales each country will have permission to hunt is yet to be determined, and may ignore estimated sustainable whaling limits. Whales in danger.

Over the winter, the universe lost four whooping cranes to what appears to be recreational shooting: three gunned down together in Georgia on December 30, 2010, and another in Alabama on January 28, 2011. More states will doubtless join the queue of those proposing hunts. It gives one to wonder why this designation was made.
