Like most Kiwis I was shocked by the pair of earthquakes that laid Christchurch low in 2010 and 2011. Formerly a fishing town it’s economy is now geared towards tourism, particularly ecotourism. That event also had me swearing a lot this week, especially when it struck. Cape Petrels aren’t rare, but are fun.

I’ve pet-sat many times since then for a variety of different dogs, cats, fish and really anything else that needed to be fed. If you pet has short hair, white fur or pink skin, they may need additional protection when out in the sun over the summer months. I was truly starting to enjoy spending time with the big fuzzy thing.
