What is a birder?

10,000 Birds

Then, in 2002 I went on my first safari in South Africa’s Kruger park. My true road to Damascus came on the 28 th of January 2009, in another African park: Pilanesberg, South Africa. His objective is to see all the birds presented in Newman’s Birds of Southern Africa, 1991 revised edition. Sofar, nothing new.

The Collins Bird Guide, 3rd edition

10,000 Birds

The Collins Bird Guide covers Europe, North Atlantic islands, much of North Africa and the Middle East. The Collins Bird Guide 2nd edition from 2009 was a much hated taxonomical revolution/nightmare, changing just about everything. Birding Eastern Zimbabwe

10,000 Birds

And, given the unstable political situation (slightly improved since the unified government of 2009), paucity of fuel, high crime-rate and dire poverty, it is probably last on the list of many traveling birders. An incredible close encounter with this magical cat species. Just be prepared for well…almost anything.
