This weekend Lagos Town Hall executives are expected to sign a landmark protocol drawn up in collaboration with animal protection association Cadela Carlota, in which it is decreed that the two organisations will endeavour to put a stop to the extermination of healthy unwanted and stray animals being held in the municipal kennel.

According to the Birds of the Western Palearctic , they will attack Ravens and Egyptian and Griffon Vultures if they stray too close to their nest sites, while ignoring buzzards harriers and kites. However, the appearance of a Peregrine or Booted Eagle “causes widespread panic at the colony, birds circling up high into the sky to avoid them”.

In 2006, in Yalta private zoo (Ukraine) two white lions were left without mother’s care. The most spectacular case was in Krasnoyarsk Zoo (Russia), where people could watch the life of very interesting and strange family, consisting of four puma cubs, stray dog Mary and baby-badger.
