Tufted Duck Grey Heron We decided to visit the Saalbachniederung as well, a nearby expanse of open meadow and wetland and a short train ride away. White Wagtail As it started to get dark we cycled back to the station from where I took the train to nearby Heidelberg where I stayed for the night.

Corn Train Derailment Causes Bird Invasion

Locke Lake in Fridley, Minnesota was the site of a train derailment this past July. The train was carrying corn and dumped tons of grain into the lake. Now the lake has been invaded by thousands of ducks and geese , far more than the usual dozen or so birds.
