The summer issue had a good article about walruses. Tags: climate global warming walrus arctic. Very depressing sometimes though. Surprisingly, they are overlooked in discussions of Arctic species threatened by global warming. We tend to talk about penguins and polar bears, but these guys are important too.

Dr. Clement Lanthier, Calgary Zoo president and CEO (is this a corporation??) sounds like a real jerk. We have to recognize they don't live forever.".

Tags: news. Fothergill: It’s very hard. When you see a dying male polar bear and you’ve been with that animal for a long time, it is hard. But clearly what are you supposed to do? Are you supposed to shoot a walrus? It’s a slippery slope, and our first rule is never interfere, never disturb. It’s a breathtakingly lovely place.
