I sometimes experience despair thinking about all of the suffering. It is, however, a tool that has demonstrated, positive effects on the human brain. We vegans have a lot of feelings associated with why we do what we do and I, for one, find it necessary to do a lot of work around my emotions. And I often am overcome with sadness.

I didn't like the idea of the cloud for categories at first, but now I do because it's a great visual tool to determine what someone's focus (including mine) is. That's a far more useful tool than categories (not that they're the same thing). And I still wrestle with opportunities to decrease suffering. It's just not in me.

The “similar species” accounts are also good although I would have expected Broad-winged Hawk to be mentioned in the account for Gray Hawk because the juveniles of these two species are often confused.

The one downside: they make your feet incredibly stinky, but if that’s what I must suffer for foot comfort, so be it. Hunting sections will always have gloves, wool socks, bug spray–all sorts of handy tools. They have great arch support and toe protection and are great for hiking. Hats are a must.

In 10 or 15 years of life, he suffered through multiple surgeries and infections and endless hours of restraint in a plastic chair. It does not make them more or less a "tool."

I suffered, I lost birding time, and I made the most stupid mistakes imaginable. These are just a few of the reasons why I think sorting bird species according to their genetic relationship in a field guide (essentially a tool for identifying birds in the field) is so fundamentally flawed that it hurts.
