Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. This wonderful piece of birding real estate can be found 8 miles east of Olympia, and an hour’s drive south of Seattle Washington, right along the I-5 corridor. I did manage to spend a chilly Saturday morning at the Billy Frank Jr.

The benefits of hurricanes in Southeast Arizona

What I consider to be the best bird of the week came in the arrival at Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, a Prairie Warbler. When word of this bird’s discovery came, I was up in Seattle for a Saturday wedding. The bird was discovered hanging out right next to the Visitors Center for the refuge.

Week 23: The advenure continues, Stateside

We arrived in Seattle 6 days ago, at 12:30 in the morning, after being on the road, in one form or another since February 1st. We were able to find a very nice RV park, just a couple of miles from one of my all time favourite birding hotspots, Billy Frank Jr, Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Back in the US of A!

Dead Sea Lions in Puget Sound - Again

Washington wildlife officials say eight sea lions have been found dead in the Puget Sound region in recent weeks — all apparently shot. KING-TV reports that both the state Department of Fish and Wildlife and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are investigating the deaths.
