Even if you do not see an obvious wound, cat or dog saliva, which is full of nasty bacteria, can still get into a bird’s eyes/orifices and will eventually kill the bird; it will just die more slowly and painfully. Did you know a bird’s body has the ability to seal a small puncture wound within minutes?

The bodies of seven sea lions with bullet wounds were recently found on the Nisqually River. The animal protection group Seal Sitters says a necropsy showed that the sea lion had suffered a shark bite and had twisted intestines in addition to a bullet wound. Investigators say they do not know who is responsible.

The Crowned Hornbill is among those hornbills in which during incubation the female seals herself into a tree cavity using her own droppings. On the other hand, their preferred food is blood, and they also feed on it directly, pecking at a mammal’s wounds to keep them open ( source ). UysI and G.
