Next door to my hometown, the Gulf Breeze Zoo occupies 50 acres near the Santa Rosa Sound. Just beyond a fence, a pair of rhino adults and one baby munched contentedly on hay. A few weeks later, I returned to the zoo, and sure enough, the nest was empty. The Canada Goose sits on its nest of pine cones. Had they merely hatched?

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay welcomes its seventh baby white rhino since 2004. The adorable baby, a female, will join other rhinos in the 26-acre white rhino habitat on Busch Gardens’ Serengeti Plain. Busch Gardens has celebrated a total of seventh white rhino births since October 2004.

The new cub was born at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens to a mother who wasn’t able to care for him. When zoo keepers saw that the baby was not eating and having trouble gaining weight, they made the decision to hand-raise him. It was on the SSP and Jacksonville Zoo’s advice that the new baby was brought to Busch Gardens.
