Activists from ALF are claiming responsibility for a fire that caused an estimated $300,000 damage to Scientific Resources International. Here is one little blurb I found out about them from the University of Wisconsin: Scientific Resources International, Ltd.

Canada to Push Seal Hunt Agenda at G-7

Canada needs to stop exploiting its natural resources and move into a more sophisticated type of economy. The Canadian government is so damn stubborn on this issue. The message of Remember Me Thursday is to remember the millions of orphan pets who lost their lives over the last year. By uniting animal lovers across the world on one very special day, we can help raise awareness about animal adoption, and hopefully save the lives of more pets. If you are active on social media, please help spread the message.

On Jeff Corwin's 100 HEARTBEATS

Animal Person

I know he's a conservationist, therefore I know he will advocate for "managing" the "resources" that are sentient nonhumans. And of course that premise is only possible because the animals (and everything else on the planet) are our "resources." That depends largely on us, our priorities, and our allocation of resources. We can stop using animals and "allocate resources" to educate Homo sapiens worldwide to change their relationship to the animals around them.

Sea Lions Shot Near Seattle

Critter News

Of course, will be there sufficient resources expended to catch the killers? This is in our own backyard. Total cowards. I hope they're caught because they could face a 50 thousand dollar fine. The deaths are a violation of the Marine Mammals Act and, because it’s a protected species, the shooting death of a Steller sea lion also violates the federal Endangered Species Act.

Creature Update

Animal Person

So many, so little time, so little support and so few resources. As many of you know, 2009 was chock full of creature-related drama for me. From the feral cats of Project Treadstone to Charles' back surgery to problems with Violet's Vetsulin (insulin for dogs), we had more than our share of issues. If I told you what I spent last year doing work-wise, you probably wouldn't believe me and you'd definitely suggest I write a book about it.

I would like to have seen action points in the film: things the average person can do to stop our hyperspeed collision course with the annihilation of all of our planet's natural resources (and by consequence Earth's nonhuman and human inhabitants). Belgian City Goes Vegetarian Once a Week

New Research Shows Crabs Feel Pain

Critter News

Overfishing, poor resource management, the view of life as a product for sale, and pure greed is crashing fisheries and destroying beautiful ecosystems. I was afraid of this.
