Why did this random cat raise its butt towards me?

I went to the parking lot to pick up my car and there’s usually a stray cat or two there. They normally don’t bother, but this time the cat came up to me, turned around, and arched its back to show me its butt. Once I did that, it walked around for a bit and came back to me once again and raised its butt towards me.
