Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the “Rufa” population of Red Knot ( Calidris canutus rufa ) as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The other sub-species, Calidris canutus roselaari , migrates along the Pacific Coast and breeds in Alaska and the Wrangel Island in Russia. Birds in Delaware Bay.

The existing villagers joined with the newcomers organizing a whip-round to raise money in the hope of buying it. There will probably be environmental studies and enhancements to encourage wildlife. After a lot of backing and forthing, the vendor accepted our offer and the wood is to become a trust to be protected in perpetuity.

One of my favorite bird species living by my house is the Juniper Titmouse. Although the Juniper Titmouse is not officially a threatened species, its numbers have been declining due to loss of habitat. But perhaps “tweets” simply went out that Aldea is a great place to raise chicks. Not bad for our little-known spot on the map.

First, wildlife officials in Louisiana announced the first successful wild Whooping Crane nest in that state since 1939. The species, which migrates from the Russian Arctic to Southeast Asia, is down to about 200 breeding pairs in the wild, due to habitat loss and poaching. It’s a bang-up breeding year for super-endangered birds!
