Vet bills are covered by the rescue. Transporters , again as it says on the tin! Move animals from pound to rescue/rescue to foster home/vets etc. We help recruit: Fosterers who look after the animals till they get their forever home. The decision will always ultimately lie with the rescue though.

The day before, the day I arrived, was a transport day, and that meant the pack hadn’t been seen in the afternoon. Something was clearly badly wrong with both of his back legs, I’m no vet, but I would guess they had both been broken. And when it’s a natural part of life the vet doesn’t come to make it better.

Basically, hornbills get paid by evolution to eat fruit, digest the fleshy parts, and regurgitate or defecate the rest – a means of seed transportation that is apparently quite attractive to many plants despite the yuck factor involved. For example , fallen figs do not seem to mind catching a ride with Oriental Pied Hornbills.
