We had a blast, the family and I, and experienced some amazing natural places, to say nothing of the fine city of Seattle. Point Defiance, Protection Island, Hurricane Hill, and Sunrise all felt our footsteps to say nothing of Carkeek Park, Discovery Park, the Space Needle, and Top Pot Doughnuts. GO TO SEATTLE! Scary nice.

Seattle People Helping Protect Seal Pups

The group is called Seal Sitters and they protect baby seals who have been left on the each while their moms fish. Tags: seattle animal rescue marine life seals. It's a nice story to offset the cruelty of the dead baby tiger in Hanoi.

Sea Lions Shot Near Seattle

The deaths are a violation of the Marine Mammals Act and, because it’s a protected species, the shooting death of a Steller sea lion also violates the federal Endangered Species Act. Dead Sea Lions in Puget Sound - Again

On Monday, a sea lion was found dead on West Seattle’s Lincoln Park beach. The animal protection group Seal Sitters says a necropsy showed that the sea lion had suffered a shark bite and had twisted intestines in addition to a bullet wound. Investigators say they do not know who is responsible.

Nisqually Delta Wildlife Refuge

This wonderful piece of birding real estate can be found 8 miles east of Olympia, and an hour’s drive south of Seattle Washington, right along the I-5 corridor. Unfortunately, while I was still living in the Seattle area, I had discovered the Nisqually Refuge to late, just weeks prior to setting sail south.

Charity Navigator Gives People for Puget Sound "Three Stars"

Yesterday, I contributed to People for Puget Sound , a local organization that works on protection of Puget Sound and the Northwest Straits. We live in Seattle and I think it's very important to remember our oceans and the life that reside there. Anyway, they received three out of four stars.
