Hey, if it's important enough to mention in his speech that he was getting a puppy, it's important enough for us to talk about it. Tags: Obama dogs He did say in the past that he would adopt a dog. Water Dog puppy Bo. Some are saying that President Obama broke his promise to get a rescue dog. Ted Kennedy gave him to the Obamas as an act of friendship. We would have loved it if the Obamas had adopted a dog from a shelter. And we also have to realize that there would not be a sudden rush to the shelter if the Obamas had adopted their dog from one. I think we animal people should just chill and enjoy the new puppy. Tags: breeders Obama dogs

I’m proud to announce today that the HSLF board of directors—which is comprised of both Democrats and Republicans—has voted unanimously to endorse Barack Obama for President. The Obama-Biden ticket is the better choice on animal protection, and we urge all voters who care about the humane treatment of animals, no matter what their party affiliation, to vote for them. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) Not a big surprise considering McCain's VP choice.

The little guy is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog given to the Obama girls as a gift by that Portuguese water dog-lovin' senator himself, Edward M. Malia and Sasha chose the name, because their cousins have a cat named Bo and because first lady Michelle Obama's father was nicknamed Diddley, a source said. The word is, that it's a Portuguese water dog.

They can say that the puppy was needing to be re-homed, therefore it's like adopting from a rescue group. But I didn't campaign for a presidential greyhound for exactly the same reason Obama's decision was disappointing: it glorifies pure breed dogs. I wasn't an Obama supporter (or a McCain supporter) but I did appreciate a lot of what he appeared to believe in and wish for this country.

I don't disagree with Herbert, but what if I wrote: Most people don't want to hear about the capacity of nonhumans to experience pain, pleasure, boredom or frustration, and President Obama would rather walk through fire than do anything other than acquire a pure breed puppy or pardon a turkey on Thanksgiving (though that one remains to be seen).
