Looks like they'll need to since nobody else wants to protect them. In Qatar yesterday nations voted down a proposed ban on exporting Atlantic bluefin tuna. Greenpeace says the New Zealand Government voted against the ban – spelling disaster for the future of the species. But Mr Watson is unfazed by the outcome in Qatar.

When we were planning this trip, New Zealand, Australia, and most certainly South Africa got all my attention. This remarkable area is best know for its huge wall that was used for centuries to protect the city from invasion, but for me, the Conwy RSPB refuge was fantastic. New Zealand species 104.

New Zealand had been good, Australia was incredible, and South Africa was almost life altering. Well, for us, we went to Doha, Qatar. With my Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) field guide in hand, off we set to put a few Scottish birds on the list. Where do you go from there?
