The causes were the usual reasons for island extinction—deforestation by both humans and invasive plants that crowded out native plants, hunting, and invasive rats, mongoose, monkeys, and, of course, feral cats. And, possibly, a waste of resources to try to extend near-extinct species into the future.

I have seen both Long-tailed and Tree Pangolins , Greater Cane Rat , several species of monkey and duiker, Royal Antelope , Pel’s Anomalure (a giant flying squirrel), huge casqued hornbills, Great Blue Turacos and numerous other birds and mammals for sale along the roadsides.
