The house we were staying in was surrounded by Howler Monkeys all night, who really work as a great 5:30 alarm, if that happens to be the time you want to get up! Some of you might remember back just before we had left Mexico, we had a visit from a Black-throated Magpie-Jay. That story is here.

In addition to Coati we also spotted Agouti , White-tailed Deer , and the endemic subspecies Yucatan Spider Monkey. The times got even better when a herd, yes, a herd, of Coati crossed our path. It was pretty awesome. Not a bad mammal list for a weekend at a resort.

I’ve been down with an odd illness for a few weeks, and then I flew to Mexico and back (boy, are my arms tired!) While in Mexico, up on the roof of a casa (where I was cooking something up) I saw a murmeration! so I’m a bit behind in my intense pursuit of scientific findings related to birds.
