I’m heading in a slightly different direction, focussing on a group we haven’t really looked at here before, but one that most people enjoy seeing, monkeys! They may not even be most beautiful species of monkey in Uganda, the guenons are even more attractive to my mind, but they are certainly the most striking.

The Sounds of a Tiger-Heron

Interior forest animals, from invertebrates to large mammals, rely on sounds to communicate; the forest is so dense that visual cues are meaningless. Over the years and after many visits, I have become familiar with rainforest birds and mammals sounds. I thought the mammal I was hearing was sitting in one place.

Honey, I Shrunk The Dinosaurs!

If we assume (probably incorrectly) that of apes and monkeys, they all descended from a monkey like ancestor, than apes are monkeys. In other words, the group of mammals that includes all the monkeys, which is rather large (and not accurately defined because I’ve not said what a “monkey” is … am I including lemurs?)
