Picathartes – Africa’s strangest birds
JANUARY 10, 2012
Photo by Adam Riley (Rockjumper Birding Tours) White-necked Picathartes may also be seen in Sierra Leone, even quite close to the capital Freetown. Gray-necked Picathartes foraging in leaf-litter on the forest floor in Korup National Park, Cameroon. If you want to see either of them, I would say the most reliable and easily accessible site to tick a picathartes is Bonkro in Ghana, followed by the Western Peninsula Forest Reserve near Freetown in Sierra Leone.
