Best Bird of the Weekend (First of June 2016)

Willow Ptarmigan in Jefferson County, New York!

The fastest route was across New Jersey and a big chunk of Pennsylvania on Interstate 80 and then north forever on Interstate 81. We crossed the Delaware Water Gap, the Endless Mountains, the Southern Tier of New York, and then, as I pushed my Ford Focus to its limits, we crossed the law and the law won.

Shutting Your Trap

Had I known the law better I would have said, “Excuse me, but this trap is not worth over $250 nor have I damaged it with explosives, so in the State of New York you cannot legally charge me with Malicious Mischief.” This unlucky/lucky young Red-tailed Hawk was found and taken to Red Creek Wildlife Care in Pennsylvania.
